Participation of INAB|CERTH in the Flagship Research Initiative "GREECE vs CORONA"

Participation of INAB|CERTH in the Flagship Research Initiative on the "Epidemiological study of SARS-CoV-2 in Greece through extensive tests for virus and antibodies, viral genome sequencing and genetic analysis of patients for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 virus".

The expected outputs of the Initiative are the promotion of research on the understanding of the SARS-CoV-2 infection, the development of predictive models and the emergence of therapeutic goals for the development of effective antiviral therapies in collaboration with the research/ academic community and of the pharmaceutical industry, the contribution to the formulation of public health policies, the participation of Greece in emblematic international initiatives in the field of genomics, the promotion of computer science and bioinformatics, the practical application of the results of the study in the field of medical biotechnology, biomolecular diagnostics and computer science and artificial intelligence, the international promotion of the Greek scientific community, the development of innovative entrepreneurship in the fields of life sciences and computer science. The implementation of the Flagship Research Initiative is supervised by the GSRI and is funded by the Ministry of Development and Investment with a funding amount of € 2,475 million. Four (4) Universities and six (6) Research Centers participate in the Action: School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens (BRFAA), School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Institute of Applied Biosciences of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (INAB | CERTH), School of Medicine of the University of Crete, Hellenic Pasteur Institute, University of Ioannina, Biomedical Sciences Research Center "A. Fleming", Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas-(FORTH), National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos".
