Petrou Nestor is a PhD candidate in the Plant Genetics and Breeding Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture at the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Environment of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). He is also involved in an ELIDEK-funded program at the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB) of the National Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). He holds a degree in Biotechnology from the Agricultural University of Athens and has conducted in vivo studies on the effect of cysteines on the toxicity and aggregation of the Tau protein related to Alzheimer’s disease at the Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming”. He also holds a Master’s degree in “Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering” from the Department of Chemical Engineering at AUTH, where he studied bone tissue engineering in vivo. His research experience includes the breeding of Drosophila melanogaster, molecular biology and chemistry experiments, and the fabrication of collagen scaffolds. Since November 2022, he has been working as a Specialist Technical Scientist at the Institute of Applied Biosciences of CERTH, under the supervision of researcher Zoe Chilioti, focusing on genome editing and the cultivation of tomatoes, yeasts, and bacteria.
