Katerina Pliatsika is a Biologist and a PhD Candidate at the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology at the Institute of Applied Biosciences, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Thessaloniki, Greece, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds a degree from the Department of Biological Applications and Technologies at the University of Ioannina, which includes an integrated Master’s level qualification. During her studies, she has been involved in the development and study of cellular models for neurodegenerative diseases, as well as in the production and purification of recombinant proteins using cellular and molecular biology techniques. Her PhD thesis focuses on developing an innovative model of induced neural stem cells derived from cells from patients with Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type I, aiming to reveal new pathological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches for this neurodegenerative disease.
