Identification of SARS-CoV-2 virus in mink farms (2020-2022)
During the SARS-CoV-2 virus crisis, INAB, in cooperation with the Regions of Central and Western Macedonia, was responsible for the genetic control management of SARS-CoV-2 virus detection in mink farms.
Genetic identification of small ruminant breeds
Since 2018, the scientific team of INEB is responsible for the genetic characterization of small ruminants, especially on autochthonous breeds and populations, using genomic technologies for the traceability of Greek breeds and their products (Michailidou et al., 2018; 2019; Michailidou, Pavlou et al 2021; Michailidou, Gelasakis et al 2021).

In the framework of the Flagship Research Initiative of SARS-Cov-2, in the period 01.01.2021 – 31.10.2021 INAB|CERTH has processed a total of 42.756 samples with the method of molecular identification of the virus (RT-PCR) developed by Flagship Research Initiative. In addition, 10.554 samples have been processed by the rapid enzyme immunoassay method.
