The tomato is a “functional food,” meaning its consumption goes beyond basic nutrition. It has bioactive components, which may reduce the risk of certain types of cancers. Research in genome editing created the opportunity to target specific genes involved in different molecular pathways with the aim to produce a local genetic variation that will increase the repertoire of interesting plant characteristics.

INAB’s representatives in 8th iBOL Conference

The 8th International Barcode of Life Conference (#iBOL2019) will be held in Trondheim, Central Norway between June 17-20, 2019. There will be two pre-conference workshops on June 16; one on the curation of the barcode library of marine invertebrates and the other on the use of mBRAVE to analyze invertebrate metabarcode data from eDNA in urban aquatic environments.

Participation and Networking in the BBI info day in Brussels

INAB’s representatives participated in the BBI info day in Brussels, on April 12 & 13, 2019. The morning sessions provided information about the BBI JU initiative and all aspects of the Call process. In addition to plenty of informal networking during the breaks, the afternoon provided an opportunity for participants to hold face-to-face meetings using the professional/corporate profile in the BBI JU Partnering Platform. 

ISO 27001:2013 Certification

INAB is certified according to ISO 27001: 2013 for its Information Security Management System, which has designed and maintained since 2018. Achieving this important goal gives INAB a distinction among all Hellenic Research Centers and Academic Institutions.
