Maria Papaioannou is Professor of Hematology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Head of the Hematology Division, First Department of Internal Medicine, AHEPA University Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. She also holds the position of Visiting Professor at the Centre for Hematology of the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London since 2023 and she is collaborating researcher of the Institute of Applied Biosciences, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas Thessaloniki since 2018. Her primary areas of interest include: PNH, molecular genetics of acute leukemias and lymphoid malignancies related to HIV. She is site principal investigator of several large multicenter clinical trials exploring novel agents and combinations for patients with blood neoplasms.
